15 Feb

Salaam Sisters,

This is a video on how I wear my square hijabs. There is the common triangle way and this is my rectangular way. I hope you find this video helpful Insha’Allah!

I love buying skirts, especially short ones!!

20 Jan

Salaam Sisters,

You know when you’re at the mall and you see that little skirt that is so cute and you want to buy it, well, BUY IT!!! I always buy mini skirts, of course they have to be loose fitting around the thighs. Now you ask me why do I buy them?? Even the sales clerk looks at me and gives me that “why are you buying this?” look!! lol…I have blouses and t-shirts that don’t go past my butt, and I always like to have that covered. To fix that problem I like to mix my tops with the skirts and I wear them over jeans or pants. Sometimes I even wear them over a semi fitted skirt. The skirt blends in and it looks like it’s a part of my top. So the point I’m making here is that you can have fun with your wardrobe and mix & match mini skirts with tops. Check out this one that I just bought. I love it so much and it looks so fab with a t-shirt!!!

Also, if your married, why not surprise your hubby?? *wink wink…for those of you that are married, your hubby is the one person that can share anything with, so be spontaneous. Trust me, he will appreciate it and you can have a little fun too!!!

Puerto Vallarta my love….

10 Nov

When I was young, I never wanted to travel to Mexico, or to Hawaii, I never wanted to live in the U.S. and I never thought that I’d be married to a Peruvian man! Well, now that I’m older, life has totally taken me for a wild and unexpected ride! I never in my wildest dreams thought that I’d be sitting with my husband and son in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on a resort relaxing and even getting a facial!! The reason we traveled to this beautiful place was for my sister in laws wedding. And it was such an incredible experience. I will never forget it, the wedding was amazing and the location was stunning! The wedding was at this restaurant called Le Kliffe and the views from there are absolutely stunning. It’s a restaurant build on a cliff that’s kind of in jungle!!! How crazy is that!?

This is the view from our room. It was so romantic and incredible! We just loved it!

We were watching the sunset and I loved the way the water looked!

As you can tell, I never got enough of sunsets!!! LOL…we were there for 9 days, so we always caught a glimpse of a sunset somewhere!

This was my outfit for the rehearsal dinner. Again, it was at this restaurant that was located in front of the ocean and again you can sea the sunset from there. But we missed it because the dinner was a little late. It was still amazing!!!

And Finally this is what I wore for the wedding. The dress my hubby bought me, the undershirt and hijab I made. It was really comfortable, I wish I got a picture of my shoes. It made the outfit. Too bad you couldn’t see them!! lol…

My EID outfit, a bit late!

12 Oct

Assalaam Alaykum ladies,

How are you all doing? So just incase I didn’t mention before, I had a fabulous EID in Vancouver with my Abba(dad) and sister and family and friends! It was so amazing and the food was just so good too. My hubby and I decided to wear what we wore during our mendhi(henna) ceremonies in Vancouver when we got married. So this is what I wore and I loved it all over again. I love wearing bright colors but it only looks good when you wear it with Indian clothes. This is called a shalwaar kamese. The bottoms are called shalwaar and they are really comfortable, they are made with a lot of pleats. the tunic is called a kamese and it is not that comfy but what ever, it looks good. My aunts in Pakistan sent it, I sent them money and my measurements and told them what color I wanted and they did a great job in picking out the material and color! The only thing that I was upset about was that the darzee(seamstress, who are men), made the sleeves short!!! But I just wore an under shirt and it worked out well!

Olympic Rings and ME

Assalaam Alaykum Sisters,

I know it’s been a long time!!! I’m so sorry, first I wasn’t blogging that much because of Ramadan and then I was in Vancouver on vacation, and what can I say, I was just waaay to busy with my family and friends!

Let me tell you, I had such an amazing time! I spent so much time with my Abba(dad) and my nephew, who is oh so adorable!! I just fell even more in love with him in person.

Eid was a blast, finally, I’ve been celebrating Ramadan and Eid in New York for the past 3 years and it had not been the same for me! I dont like it here, there is no Fijians here, and I feel left out and alone, it’s just myself and my husband, but Allhumdulillah, now I have my own family, this year we had our son with us and we will be starting our own traditions insha’Allah.

The picture featured here was taken in Whistler BC, it’s about 1 hour and a half away from Vancouver BC. It was where the 2010 Winter Olympics were held. Orignally, my husband and I wanted to take a little trip up by our selves and then my sister heard and she got interested and then it slipped out to a few other friends and became a couples retreat which I think turned out pretty well! We had a relaxing time with each other and our kids. It was memorable and something that we can always look back on.

What I’m wearing here is a scarf that was given to me as a gift from one of my bestfriends and she bought if from H&M and I think is was the new one in Vancouver, my dress is from Marshall’s and i’m wearing my boyfriend jeans that I bought at the mall and lastly i’m wearing sneakers. I found this look stylish, comfy yet suitable for a quick outing!

This is one of the craziest years for me, but I will not complain, so I will try my hardest to have tutorials as much as I can. I have some fun creative crafty hijab ideas, but only time will tell me if I can do a video (and it’ll be back to me holding the camera in my hand!). I have another trip coming up for my lovely sister in laws wedding and I still have to make my blouse to wear under my dress (and I have a 1 year old monkeying around all the time!!). That’s just one of many things. I hope you all understand!!!

Nautical Fever!

16 Aug

Assalaamu Alaykum,

It was day three of fasting and I finished reading a few pages of the Qur’an, I rushed to get dressed to meet my sister in law and her fiancee in the lobby. This is what I threw on, its so comfy, I love the light weight top, its meant to be extremely baggy, perfect for a hijabi! Of course with my added accessories headband and son(not in picture) it finishes the look off perfectly. I love this look with its comfyness and ease, the sweater I bought from H&M under $15!!! Totally ROCKS!!!

**Insha’Allah all your fasts are going well, for me today is day day 6 and Allhumdulillah it is going great!**

Something simple to wear out

14 Jul

Assalaamu Alaykum girls,

I bought this dress last year while I was pregnant to wear to my baby shower. Of course then I was a lot fuller and it fit me better and stayed up, but I still had to pull it up to keep it from falling to low. Now that I’m not preggers and I still love this dress, I want to wear it. I pinned the top of the dress down to my shirt and had a my husband pin the back down for me. so in total I used 4 safety pins.

The dress I bought for dirt cheap at this store called Pay/Half for $25 and the hijab my lovely sister who is expecting her first baby Insha’Allah in August gifted it to me. She took a trip to Pakistan to visit my mom’s family and bought it there with many other Pakistani outfits for her wedding a few years ago.

I went to the mall and was on a hunt for dresses. I found really simple bohemian maxi skirts, but that’s about it. I was on a hunt for maxi dresses and I came across a few really simple styles, I owned similar colors and I really was just doing some research for myself. I know as a fashion forward hijabi it’s really hard for me to find clothes. I make trips out to the mall to do a little research for my future label.

Uptown Girl!

27 Jun

Today I had an important appointment in the city. The question since last night was, what do I wear??? I do this anytime I have to go anywhere, I think the night before, the morning of and sometimes I stress over it!!! I know to some people it’s silly, but to me, it’s a part of my life. So my final decision was made 30 minutes before we left the house. I wore this dress, (I wear it as a shirt) I bought it from New York & Co., the jeans are also from NY & Co (you can’t really see them here), the black hijab is old it’s from one of my abaya’s my mom bought for me ages ago and the beige hijab I bought from http://www.pearl-daisy.com.

I would like to start something new here called ‘HIJABI SPOTLIGHT’ (I really hope it works!), I would like my hijabi sister’s to send me photo’s of them in their stylish hijabi attire. Also add a small bio of where you live and where you bought your pieces from. Each week I’ll post a new ‘HIJABI SPOTLIGHT’. This will help other sisters learn new tricks from you. It’ll also help all of us in finding clothes that suit our body types. So please DON’T be shy!!! Email it to me at hijabizlovefashiontoo@gmail.com
